As one of the world's leading banks, our client is searching for a Database Support Specialist that meets the following description.
Within Derivatives IT, the NY Interest Rate Products (IRP) team are responsible for providing risk management solutions primarily to the IRP business unit in New York. We are currently developing a high profile strategic project delivering a stable, scalable and controlled disributed client-server risk system. The candidate will play a crucial role as a key member of the Infrastructure support team.
The role is varied, but responsibilities include:-
Database Support – primary application is based on an Oracle 9i and 10g systems with dependencies on instances of Sybase. Candidate should have indepth knowledge of PS/SQL and the overall structure and design behind an Oracle database. They should be familiar with crafting sql queries and will be involved in the maintenance and performance tuning of the database.
Infrastructure Support – Client/Server side of our application is based on Windows hardware. Support of these systems involves understanding of the windows infrastructure including knowledge of associated system tools.
IT Development – Reporting and various infrastructure tools use a quite a few scripts written in Perl. These scripts need to be maintained and supported. New versions of these reports are required anytime products/books are rolled into production.
2nd Line Support – providing back up to the 1st Line Support team and coverage for the End of Day P&Ls, diagnosing and fixing database or workstation problems as they arise.
Ownership – the team is directly accountable to the business for solutions to assist day-to-day activities as well as further book rollout. Solutions often span teams within the group and involve a number of dependencies and the candidate is expected to manage these dependencies and to lead as required towards delivery. Qualifications
Technical - expertise in a few of:- Object Oriented design and development .NET (C#) SQL and PS/SQL ORACLE, SYBASE, COM Perl
Practical development experience on small to large scale systems with a proven track record in a Front Office environment
Technical:- Excel/VBA Unix Business Knowledge - familiarity with financial instruments including:- Interest Rate Swaps Options
